Three reasons. Easiest CUN access (20–30 min). Densest brand lineup (every major AI operator is here). Walkable nightlife (the Forum, Coco Bongo, ferry to Isla Mujeres). The trade-off: less spread-out than Riviera Maya, slightly more crowded beaches in peak season.
Hotel Zone vs Riviera Maya
Hotel Zone — denser, more nightlife, easiest airport. Best for 3–5 night stays and first-timers. Riviera Maya — bigger campuses, jungle setting, closer to cenotes and ruins. Best for 7+ nights. Many travelers split-stay 3 + 4 nights.
