Cable car or hike

Cable car (Teleférico del Teide) — 8 min from 2,356m base station to 3,555m. €40 round-trip. From the upper station, two short trails (free, no permit). Summit climb to 3,718m requires a free permit booked 2+ months ahead at reservasparquesnacionales.es. Most visitors do the cable car only.

Lunar volcanic landscape, ancient lava flows, panoramic views over Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro islands. Clear days reach Gran Canaria 200 km east. Sunset tours (5–8 PM in winter) are the highlight — golden light on the volcanic landscape.
