How we compare the two prices. Same room, same dates, same cancellation terms. The public price is what that room costs on major booking platforms; the member price is what you pay through The Travel Club. Both are per night for two guests, over a 1-night stay. Star ratings and review scores are supplier-verified. Prices and savings reflect your selected currency and are confirmed live at checkout.

How many five-star hotels does Estepona have?

Six, spread along about twenty kilometres of coast rather than clustered — a fraction of Marbella's stock, which is why the town stays quiet. Estepona is a working Andalusian town with a painted old quarter, and the resorts sit outside it on the coast road.

  • Best golf and country estate: Finca Cortesin Hotel Golf & Spa
  • Best thalasso spa on the beach: Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa
  • Best gardens and courts: Hacienda del Mar member of Meliá Collection

What staying in Estepona is actually like

Location
Estepona's five-stars are spread rather than clustered: some on the New Golden Mile towards Marbella, some west towards Casares, and one inland on a golf estate.
Dining
Estepona old town is the genuinely good part and it is a working Spanish town, not a resort quarter. The resorts run their own restaurants for the rest.
Transit
55–70 minutes from Málaga Airport, or about 40 from Gibraltar. A car is effectively required at this end of the coast.

Concierge notes

Finca Cortesin Hotel Golf & Spa

An 18-hole Cabell Robinson course, a Nicklaus academy, padel and tennis, and a spa with a snow cave, above Casares.

Tip: It sits inland at Casares rather than on the sand — a country-estate stay, not a beach one.

Elba Estepona Gran Hotel & Thalasso Spa

A sea-water thalasso circuit behind an Estepona beachfront, across more than four thousand stays.

Tip: Every room has a balcony or terrace; the sea-view allocation is what you are paying the difference for.

Hacienda del Mar member of Meliá Collection

Three outdoor pools, tennis courts and a spa in beachfront gardens under the Meliá Collection.

Tip: A seasonal kids' club and family rooms make this the least adult-oriented of the six.

METT Marbella Estepona

A heated exterior pool, an indoor pool and treatment rooms, with sea, pool or mountain views.

Tip: The heated and indoor pools together make it the one that works in midwinter.

Grand Hotel Las Dunas, Autograph Collection

All suites, adults-only, on the sand with gardens and a spa — the quietest of the six.

Tip: Adults-only across the whole property, which is unusual at this level on the Costa del Sol.

Frequently asked questions

How many five-star hotels does Estepona have?+

Six in live inventory, along about twenty kilometres of coast. It is a fraction of Marbella's stock, which is why the town stays quiet.

Is Estepona a resort town?+

No — it is a working Andalusian town with a painted old quarter, and the resorts sit outside it on the coast road. That distinction is the whole reason to choose it.

How far is Gibraltar?+

About 40 minutes west. Gibraltar airport is the shorter transfer for this end of the coast if the route suits you.
